Things have gotten real busy and I recently had some bad family news, but, we still have to find a way to get on because life isn’t going to stop. So the next step is to plan a showcase, pretty much like what I did last year! I’m currently trying to find a venue. Well actually I found one, but am waiting to see if my very first choice is available. If not, I’ll have to settle for plan B or C, which isn’t the best, but you gotta make do when life hands you lemons!
In the meantime, I have to focus on finishing up my targeted amount of Original songs by that time. I don’t know if I can make it, but I have to try! This show will be a sort of fundraising show to produce an EP, so I had better get my ass in gear!
Recently, I headed down to The Studio and was given a makeover. Can I just say, it was an utterly fabulous experience. The make-up and hair were professionally done with in-house make-up and the photographer was great, besides being awfully cute. He made posing a breeze and it looked rather model-esque! Very impressive. Best just to show you I think!
Sometime in July or August 2009 I took my first batch of official photos. I decided to take some really good ones for any media coverage, posters and the like, instead of passing over some half-baked shots that I took by myself.
So I looked around a little on facebook and found an old secondary school classmate’s online portfolio, liked what I saw and immediately asked if he was interested. And yay, he was. We talked shop, scheduled it and well I’ll just let the photos do the talking. Here are some of my favourites from the shoot.

In May 2010, I was hired as part of Paragon’s Young Talent Showcase and it was utterly fabulous. Pushed myself to learn some new songs and try out some interesting variations, which included Shira Gavrielov’s rendition of Crazy by Gnarls Barkley, some jazzy covers and top 40 hits. It was quite different, from what I usually did for Centrepoint when I performed there almost once each month, last year! But it’s always good to push yourself.
And that’s what I always seem to need, a fantastic shove in the arse.
Usually, when you’re pretty much the main event, it’s not professional when you’re reading off your music stand – this is really different for people playing in pubs/bars. And I was hired only a few days prior and of course I decided to go with an entirely new repertoire and as such, spent most of my time memorising songs. At that point, crammed with nerves and lyrics pouring out of my ears, I don’t really want to remember the line-up. I end up writing it on my wrist (you can see the picture below) and it’s hidden behind my bracelet. As I usually use my right hand to hold the mic, that’s the wrist that is inked, so I can sneak a peek every now and then. My pianist, Anthony, got a real kick out of that and so did many others actually.
This section is pretty much what it is, a compilation of media coverage from here and there and updated from time to time.
